This Peru Fairtrade Organic Ground Coffee is a full-bodied, mild roast with toasty hazelnut aromas and notes of cocoa.
CENFROCAFE, established in 1999 by 220 small-scale coffee farmers in eleven associations, has since expanded to 2000 farmers in twelve districts in the Cajamarca region. Beyond providing leadership training for the youth, CENFROCAFE offers short-term credit to cover harvest and production costs. They have united with other associations in the region, providing indispensable services to small-scale farmers who would otherwise be neglected. The result has been astounding; each hectare yields 100lbs of organic parchment coffee, often placing in national and international quality competitions.
The increased profits for CENFROCAFE members have enabled access to essential health, education, and social services. Anselmo Huaman Moreto, a founding member, said: "We can now send our children to school, our coffee is appreciated, we get fair pay and we are proud to be farmers again."
