Revolver World gets busy during Fairtrade Fortnight!

February 24th, 2011

Find out all you need to know about Revolver Worlds activity during the Fairtrade Fortnight, taking place between 28 February - 13 March.

On the 28th of February we're launching our new product - a range of 100% Fairtrade roasted coffees! This has been under wraps for a long time and what you may have seen us refer to as Project Fava. All very secret agent... On launch you will be able to buy two different types of coffee - a roasted ground Colombia single origin and a delicious Africa blend in 39 Midcounties Co-operative stores - or directly from our website. We're also running a promotion where you can get a free music track and half price organic Fairtrade ecru cotton T-shirt with every purchase, more details will be on the web site on the product launch day.

On Wednesday the 2nd of March, 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Revolver World takes part in the BLOOD SWEAT AND TRAFFIC Fairtrade events in the Birmingham Cathedral St Phillips Square - come along and you will be able to listen to representatives from People Tree, LUCIA and Midlands Cooperative speaking on a variety of topics. Admission is free and there will be refreshments and music to boot!

On the 11th of march Revolver World will be at two events at the same time! Catch us at the REDRESS FASHION SHOW (at the University of Birmingham, B15 2TU, from 6.30 pm) and come talk to our Managing Director Paul Birch, who will also be interviewing David Greenwood-Haigh from Divine Chocolate at St. Bart's Church in Wolverhampton - all proceeds to The LUCIA Charity. More details on all these events next week... In the meantime, follow us on Twitter and feel free to ask us any questions!

Greenbelt 2010 Part 2: we're back!

September 2nd, 2010

And we're all absolutely knackered. This is more of a check-in update to let people know we're all back, recovering slowly and getting used to running water again ;)

HOWEVER, in the meantime, work continues - and soon we'll be publishing some of the lovely snaps and audio we collated over the weekend :) Also watch the store over the next couple of weeks as we begin to add some new products alongside popular favourites like Pants to Poverty underwear and Divine Chocolate next to our own apparel.

More coming soon!

(Gearing up for) Greenbelt 2010, Part 1- the Preface!

August 19th, 2010

Greenbelt begins next week (27th-30th of August), and once again we'll be there as traders to showcase (and sell!) both our own and other companies' Fairtrade and Organic products. Aside from the music lineup (which is decidedly tasty this year, I'll be checking out Milton Jones on Sunday! -- Chris) there's a wide variety of talks on topics and many charities will also have large stands and campaigns running through the course of the weekend. We took delivery of our excellent new marquees today (provided by Instant Marquees) and they're going to help make our lives MUCH simpler this year. Last year we took two huge steel marquees and had to spend hours putting them up and then taking down after an exhausting weekend...

Aside from our humble contribution to the festival last year, Christian Aid also had a large presence (of whom we are an official merchandise licencee). Amongst their various campaigns and stands, they had a fascinating exhibit - Birmingham's Stan's Cafe's presentation of "Of All The People In All The World" - using grains of rice to demonstrate the inequities of living in the developed vs. developing world (a couple of photos here and a great video below:)

We took some photos of the show ourselves last year but were so busy we didn't get round to uploading them (now might be a good opportunity). We have no idea what will be on offer this year, but it's our intention to dabble in a bit of daily blogging - showcasing some of the best sounds, images and discoveries from the festival - or as much as we can when we're not manning our stand - we did such roaring trade last year it made it tough to find any time to do any exploring!

So, if you're coming (with 21,000 other people!) to this year's Greenbelt, feel free to drop by our stand and say hi! We'll have some special offers and we're even going to be selling academic books this year alongside our Fairtrade stuff - we're also launching our custom T-shirt and hoodie printing services this year (ideal if you're looking to sort some T-shirts for a stag or hen do). All of our staff will be there and happy to help or answer any of your questions. Ask us about the new range of Fairtrade coffees we're launching at the end of September!

Revolver World: Aiding people with learning disability

March 8th, 2010
Ebude MbongRecapped By :
Ebude Mbong, Revolver World.

Revolver World operates as a non-for-profit organisation, and we aim to support the development of less fortunate nations, benefit children in the supplier community, and also as a means to aid people with learning disability.
Revolver Fairtrade t-shirts are produced out of a convent in Tirupur (Assisi) in India. People find the convent as a place where they can seek refuge from poverty. The sisters in the convent actually knit and produce these t-shirts as a means of making some money for their church. Thus Revolver helps in providing work for them. » Read more: Revolver World: Aiding people with learning disability

February Fairtrade Events at Revolver World

February 25th, 2010

Revolver World has been taking part in a number of Fairtrade events to celebrate this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight...

Feb 25th: Aston Uni Fairtrade Marketplace

In advance of the start of year’s Fairtrade Fortnight, Revolver World took part in the Aston University Fairtrade Marketplace today (Thursday 25th February) at the University Guild hall. A range of our apparel was be on sale and we were delighted with the interest shown in our aparel. The event only lasted a couple of hours (from 12pm to 2pm) but it was an excellent taster for those who hadn't considered buying Fairtrade before.

Feb 27th: Fairtrade Fortnight Tea Dance & Fair and Ethical Marketplace

Following this event, Revolver was at the Strictly Fairtrade Tea dance on Saturday the 27th of February in Victoria Square, Birmingham. The Tea Dance events, held nationwide, looked to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight with a dance of any sort. Anything from street dancing to the salsa was welcome, and the rain didn't stop many people from enjoying themselves!. Along with the tea (strictly Fairtrade of course) a variety of artists and groups performed on stage at the Birmingham event - furthermore, Revolver hosted a stand in the accompanying Fair and Ethical Market, alongside eco-powered home solutions, bags, jewellery and produce.

We sold a range of apparel, including a couple of new designs of our own AND the official Birmingham Fairtrade Campaign T-Shirt (Stamping Out Unethical Trade), at our stall - thanks to all who supported us and bagged one of our organic Fairtrade T-Shirts or Hoodies!
